Meetings:

. . . for breakfast are from 8:00 am. to 9:00 am. on the second Sunday of the month between September and May.
We volunteer and rotate cooking duties and the providing for a special program of interest each month.

March 8, 2015

Breakfast by Bill & Sharon Sturgill and Winnie Cleland.

They made 3 kinds of Egg Casseroles, Boiled Eggs,
Donuts, Toast, Juice and Coffee.

Program was about making Maple Syrup by Addy Battel.
She talked about the process of making it and the industry.
Addy's family has been in the business for generations and
she started her own business with her friend Ethan Healy.

March 1, 2015

The Mens Group organized the Chili Cookoff this year.

This picture shows a family sampling some of the
11 different entries that we had. There were also breads,
drinks and lots of deserts. We had about 60 people attend.

The winner of the Chili Cookoff was Pastor Phil Tousley.

He won a gift basket donated by Elwin and Joan Cubitt.
We raised $333 dollars which will go toward fixing or
replacing some Church doors that have seen better days.

February 8, 2015

Breakfast by Mike & Mallory Klosowski and Mel McCracken.

They made Egg Casserole, Boiled Eggs, Sausage,
Muffins, Toast, Fruit, Juice and Coffee.

Program was by Frank & Linda Gorkowski. They had a slide show
of their trip to China. It included the Great Wall, the
Terra Cotta Warriors and many other interesting sites.
The pictures were absolutely beautiful.

January 18, 2015

Breakfast by Tom and Deb Laity.

They made Egg Casseroles, Muffins
Fruit, Juice and Coffee.

Program was by Tom Laity. He had a slide show of their
trip to the Grand Canyon National Park North & South Rims,
Zion National Park & Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.

The pictures were absolutely beautiful and
39 people turned out to see the presentation.

January 1, 2015

We held our annual Deer Contest which
encompassed Bow, Shotgun and Muzzleloading
for the 2014 Deer Season.

Mel McCracken and Curt Myers won the
buck contest with nice 8 pointers.

Macy McCracken won the doe contest
with a nice 150 pound doe.

December 14, 2014

Breakfast by Ron & Mae Hoffman and Ann Sams.

They made Egg Casseroles, Muffins
Fruit, Juice and Coffee.

Program was by Mark Green.
He had a slide show on the
Great Fire of 1881.
It hit the Thumb region hard.
It was a very interesting program.

November 11, 2014

Breakfast by Elwin, Brian, Duane & Doralyn Cubitt.

They made French Toast, Sausage,
Toast, Fruit, Juice and Coffee.

Program was by Kyle Bucholz.
He is a new DNR officer and
he works in the thumb area.
DNR officer Scott Brown was also there.
They talked about the new rules and
what shape the deer herds are in.

October 12, 2014

Lynn and Kathie Abke provided the breakfast.

They made Breakfast Casseroles, Muffins,
Toast, Juice and Coffee.

We did not have a program but instead
we helped the UMW fold pie boxes for
their upcoming Apple Pie Marathon.

September 14, 2014

We held our first Mens Breakfast of the Season.

Bill & Sharon Sturgill provided the breakfast.
They made Egg Casseroles, Toast
Juice and Coffee.

June 14, 2014

We organized a trip to a Midland Loons Baseball Game.

Our Church Men’s Chorus sang the National Anthem.

We had a good attendance of Church members,
family and friends at the game.

If you have never attended a game here, you should try it.
They have close parking, close seating with great views,
many things for children and nice post-game fireworks.

We held a Mothers Day Omelet Breakfast for our Church.

Besides omelets, we had muffins,
fruit, toast, juice and coffee.

This was a great time of food and fellowship
and to show the ladies how much we appreciate them.

April 20, 2014

The Men held their annual Easter Breakfast.

We had Egg Casseroles, Boiled Eggs, Muffins,
Rolls, Toast, Fruit, Juice, Coffee and Jello Eggs.

No one went away hungry.

April 13, 2014

Breakfast by Elwin, Joan, Duane and Doralyn Cubitt.

They made French Toast, Sausage
Toast, Fruit, Juice and Coffee.

The Program was by Robin Zurek.
He received a Kidney Transplant and did a program about it.
He talked about Kidney Diseases, Failure, Dialysis, Costs,
Organ Need / Donation, and Life Post Transplant.
Organ demand FAR exceeds Supply. Donation is quite simple now days.

Program was by Mike Klosowski.
Mike is the CFO for the Elkton-
Pigeon-Bay Port Lake Schools.
He discussed school financing which
you might think is boring but it was
very interesting and informative.

We held a Buckburger Luncheon for our Church.

Besides buckburgers we had hamburgers, hot dogs,
potato salad, baked beans, chips, dessert and drinks.

We raised $306 for Church projects.

February 9, 2014

Breakfast by Andy Sommers & Dave Hunsanger.
They made Egg Casseroles, a Spicy Sausage Dish
Toast, Fruit, Juice and Coffee.
Program was by Steve Watson.
Steve works for the Huron County Road Commission.
He talked about everything that they are
responsible for which is a lot more than roads.
We learned a lot about what they do.

Program was by Brian Cubitt.
Brian is VP of the Gemini Plasic Group.
He talked about their various plants
and showed some very interesting video
clips of the machines that make various products.

Tip of the Thumb Metal Machining
It was very interesting and covered all the metal shops
in Huron Country with # employed and annual sales.
It also covered the plants by city and what they produced.

It was a great game and they beat the Quad City River Bandits 9 to 3.

We held our annual Men's BBQ during
the Bad Axe Hatchet Festival and Car Show.

We had hamburgers, brats & chicken quarters
chips, drinks and ice cream.

We had a great turn-out and
it was a wonderful fellowship event.

He made scotch eggs, baked eggs in peppers,
toast, juice and coffee.
No one went away hungry.
The program was by Lee McDowell.
He did a presentation on knife making.
It was very interesting and covered the materials used,
different types of knives and their uses.
It is his hobby and he also sells them.

is a local chiropractor
He spoke to us about chriropractic
issues and solutions.

We organized a Tigers Ballgame trip at Comerica Park.

We had a delay due to our bus breaking down
but we made the best of it as there were restaurants,
an ice cream shop and a woodworking store nearby.

There were 50 members, family and friends that attended.

Unfortunately, they lost 12 to 4 to the Colorado Rockies.

We had egg casserole,
english muffins, juice and coffee.
The program was Sherriff Kelly Hanson.
He talked about his background and the history
of the department. He also talked about the many issues
facing our county including child neglect and bath salts.

We had french toast, sausage,
fruit, juice and coffee.
The program was by Duane Cubitt about his
trip to Alaska with his wife & 2 other couples.

Breakfast was by Wally Humphrey-Phillips
with helpers Ron Learman & Bob Chappel.
Wally made a Sausage Biscuit Casserole
with Gravy, Parfaits, Juice & Coffee.
The program was by Seth & Hlawn-Hlawn Van Tifflin.
They are missionaries in SE Asia and they explained
child abuse in the region which includes child labor,
prostitution and what is being done to help them.

December 2011 - Big Buck Contest.

We had 14 people sign up and raised $70.
Elwin provided a Hunting DVD for the Winners.

Andrew Cubitt won the Big Buck Contest.
It was a nice 8 point Buck with a 15" spread.
Mel McCracken won the Largest Doe Contest.
It dressed out at 156 pounds.

November 13, 2011

Breakfast was by Tom Laity.
We had pancakes, sausage, fruit,
juice and coffee.
Program was by Scott Brown.
Scott is our local DNR officer.
He updated us on new rules
and answered our questions.

The Great Lakes Loons won over
the Ft. Wayne TinCaps 2 to 1
Then there was a nice Fireworks display after the game.

We had a large group of people attend!

Andy served a wonderful breakfast
just as he always does.
Program was by Sharon Sturgill
She did a presentation about Red Bird Missions.
They have a Mission & Clinic in Beverly, Kentucky.
They have been serving the Appalachian Mountains since 1921.
The United Methodist Church supports this Mission.
They have a work program that does a lot of good for the area.
Sharon went to this Mission and helped them out.

The UMM Organized a trip to a Baseball Game.
It was at Dow Diamond in Midland MI

There was a rain delay of about a hour then
our Bad Axe FUMC Mens Chorus
sang the National Anthem.

The Great Lakes Loons lost
to the Clinton LumberKings 5 to 2
Then there was a nice Fireworks display after the game.

We had 62 people attend!

The UMW Womens Group provided the breakfast.

Program was by Sandra Koglin
She did a presentation about Relay For Life.
Huron COunty raised over $100,000 and
our Methodist team rasied over $10,000
to help fight Cancer. The Annual Relay for Life
will be June 28/29, 2009 at the Huron Co. Fairgrounds.

We raised $90 which went to the Camp Scholarship Fund.

Shoot at Elwin and Joan Cubitts’ house.

We had a competition at the end and Chuck Harris
won a pheasant shoot and Dave Hunsanger won
a clock which were donated by Elwin and Joan.

We had 17 people attend and
everyone had a great time

The UMM Organized a trip to a
Midland Loons Baseball Game.

It was during a Faith & Family Day and
we had about 40 people attend.

It is a wonderful facility with
no bad seats in the park.

The Loons lost to the South Bend Silver Hawks.

The UMM organized their annual BBQ.

It was held on June 14th, 2008 during the
Bad Axe Hatchet Festival and Car Show.

We modified the event this year.
We had hamburgers, BBQ sandwiches, brats,
chips, drinks and ice cream.

It was a beautiful day and
we sold out of most of the items.

The UMM organized a trip to see,
a Ball Game at Comerica Park in Detroit.

I believe that we had about 48 people attend
and the Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox, 5 – 1.

There was much fun and fellowship
and it was a great opportunity to show
all the mothers and ladies of the Church

Prayer was offered by Ron Learman.
Program was by Bob Rhode
He did a presentation about
Scuba Diving in Caribbean waters.

April 6th, 2008

The UMM organized a Buckburger, Hamburger,
and Hot Dog Luncheon at the Church.

We served around 75 people and
raised $344 for the Camp Scholarship Fund.

More importantly, everyone had a great time
of Fellowship with their fellow Christians.

The UMM Organized a trip to a
Midland Loons Baseball Game.

It was during a Faith & Family Night and
we had about 30 people attend.
It is a wonderful facility with
no bad seats in the park.

The Loons beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 9 - 2.
We also witnessed the first Grand Slam at this stadium.

We had our Annual Beef & Pork BBQ
It was held in conjunction with the Bad Axe Car Show and Hatchet Festival.
We served around 300 people and raised money to be used for our Church.

The Men's Group organized a painting bee to paint the Dining Room, Multipurpose Room
and the second floor stairway landing. We had a GREAT turnout of workers and people

January 2007

January 20th - The UMM Organized a Detroit Pistons
Basketball Outing during their Faith & Family Night.
20 people attended and they received free Pistons Blankets.
January 28th - Buckburger, Hamburger & Hotdog Luncheon.
The money raised will go to rebuild the garbage fence.
This is a Boy Scout project organized by Ryan Rowley.

The youth group had a “Meet me at the Pole” prayer event. It was at the flag pole at the Bad Axe High School.
The men’s group provided and cooked breakfast for them at our church.
This is a National Event that is held once a year.

September 16, 2006

We held a clay pigeon and target shoot at Elwin and Joan Cubitt's.
We shot for awhile in the morning, took a break for lunch, and continued shooting in the afternoon.
We had several people join us who were new to shooting and kept working on their technique by practicing.
Andrew Cubitt, a police officer, was there to teach gun safety and shooting techniques.
Everyone had a great time. There were 16 people in attendance including some youth.

We all helped and made Omelets
with the burners that we purchased.

We held our annual Beef and Pork BBQ during the Bad Axe Hatchet Festival and Car Show.
It was a success and we served about 360 people.

Mother's Day was May 14th.
The Men's Group served "made to order" Omelets.
The Men's Group bought 4 burners and used them for this event.
On May 26th, the Men's Group Organized a trip to Comerica Park.
28 People went and the Detroit Tigers won against the Cleveland Indians 8 - 3.
